The Organic Zucchini project began germinating in the creative soil of an Ontario farm in the spring of 1973. Zucchini seeds are planted in small, dark, moist spaces in the earth. Weather conditions normal for the season prevail - intense sunlight, rain, lightening etching the blackness of a stormy night.
Over the summer months a multimedia form emerges. Photographic images are made of zucchini as subject and object of art, zucchini in history research, and the creation of a 30 course zucchini celebration. In response to seeds sent around the world, international zucchini mail art arrives weekly.
Exhibitions, beginning in 1973, include 40 silver prints, 11" x 14", 30 color transparencies, 15 varying size collages and montages, mixed media mail art, zucchini plants, and cooking and serving zucchini preparations.
